Glass and clay have captivated me for as long as I can remember. Their contrasting qualities—the luminous transparency of glass and the versatility of clay—offer endless possibilities for expression and continue to inspire my creative journey. My path into ceramics began over 30 years ago when I studied pottery at my local college in Wokingham, earning a City & Guilds qualification. Although a career in science and the demands of motherhood led me away from the studio for many years, the desire to create never disappeared. Fifteen years ago, I discovered glass, and it quickly became a passion that reignited my artistic practice. Today I work with both mediums, embracing the unique character and challenges that each brings. Much of my work explores the relationship between beauty and touch. I am particularly drawn to creating jewellery that is not only visually striking but also inviting to wear—a tactile object that offers comfort, curiosity, and a personal connection to its owner. Whether shaped from fused glass or hand-formed clay, every piece is made with the intention of bringing joy through both its appearance and its presence. For me, making is about transformation: turning raw materials into objects that carry light, texture, and emotion, and that become part of the everyday lives of those who wear or display them.
