ALAN TIDY

My art style was influenced from an early age by comics and appreciation of technical drawing, both of which tapped into my visual method of learning and accompanied by encouraging teachers. This meant that I was never truly going to be an impressionistic artist, preferring to paint (and draw) what I see. That said, I persist in the struggle to paint somewhat *more* than what is there, so I am constantly trying to discover what I find truly satisfying to paint or draw. My holy trinity of mediums are acrylics, oils and graphite pencils, but I dabble in many others depending on my mood – which constantly varies. I am a member of a couple of art societies and have displayed for a few years in both as I try to ramp up my artistic endeavours since taking early retirement. Portraits, both of the human and animal kind are my preference, but I persist in venturing into the world of landscapes when the mood and commissions arise.
