Madeline Hawes

My favourite subject at school was art! But in the real world, I earned a living in Admin, only drawing cartoons of those close to me occasionally. On early retirement, the first thing I did was join Wokingham Art Society and an art class. I was Secretary of WAS for about 20 years, which kicked me back into drawing & painting. I use watercolour, acrylics & collage, tending towards semi-abstract buildings & landscape. The abstract painting shown here is the result of a workshop gone wrong! Not the intended result, but it reminds me of the work of Joan Miro. The farmhouse with the honesty seeds was fun to do and more my “thing”. Cartoons of people & animals are still amusing to make.
